About Jim

Jim has been active in the self storage industry for almost three decades. Founded in 1990, Chiswell & Associates, LLC
has been Jim's sole focus in working for self storage clients across the country. Prior to starting the consulting firm, he
was Vice President of Sovran Self Storage (Uncle Bob's Self Storage) while it was a private company. Involved in both
acquisition and facility management, Sovran's portfolio grew to thirty-four stores in ten states during Jim's tenure.

Whether it was serving as the President of the New York Self Storage Association or service on the national Board of
the Self Storage Association, Jim has always been active in industry organizations.

The Chiswell by-line has appeared on articles for Inside Self Storage (ISS) and Messenger Magazine (Minico) as well as
a variety of State Association newsletters over the years. A speaker at state and national association conferences, Jim
has been a featured presenter at ISS EXPOs since their inception. He also serves as a member of the ISS Editorial
Advisory Board, is a Moderator on Self Storage Talk - the online self-storage community, as well as being a faculty
member of the Qualified Storage Manager program of the Self Storage Training Institute - the first online educational
platform for managers and owners.
